Before being taken for an amble in the front paddock this evening by my venerable oldie, the Lady Thriller, I popped a “Fantail” into my mouth. Fantails are a yummy chocolate covered hard caramel much favored by the aforesaid Thriller’s recently acquired dad. As we meandered about the paddock, the little Miss seeking interesting scents to follow, me plodding alongside the girl at her sedate pace, Thriller eventually noticed that her dad had something apparently edible in his mouth, and if it’s edible, Thriller is always wanting her share. So, since the chocolate had long since been removed from the Fantail, and the caramel was by then a scrumptiously delicious gooey mass, and this girl has eyes that would melt the stoniest heart, the delectable softened caramel was offered to Her Ladyship. And with a result that should have occurred to someone with even fewer brain cells than me, the gooey mass quickly became lodged fast on Thriller’s back teeth.

Thriller would chew at the caramel, or try dislodging it with her tongue, moving her head around at every angle to better become unstuck from her treat and all the time “chomping” as it released its sweetness to the ever-increasing slobber rapidly adorning her beauteous features. As the slobber would increase, Thriller would vigorously shake her head almost violently ridding her face of excess slobber sending it arcing out in wide circles and leaving her head covered in foamy white polka-dots! These polka dots would be removed each time by the fussy dad, however it was quite obvious that Thriller had never before encountered such a situation. She seemed torn between the flood of yummy caramel her saliva was dissolving from the caramel and the annoyance of having something stuck to her molars – though she appeared to find it a benign annoyance as she chomped messily away, drool slipping from her mouth, or shaking spreading slobber near and far. Eventually I took pity on the girl, opened her mouth and dislodged most of the “offending” delicacy, which she then swallowed – however there remained some remnant sweetness that had Thriller stopping periodically to enjoy over again.

Thriller – It’s easier for dad to handle such situations – his teeth come out, mine don’t!!!!
