The day had been long and tiring for me, away from home and the pleasant company of Liquorice and Keaton. My arrival home was celebrated with one of the most enthusiastic “welcome homes” it has ever been my delight to receive! Simply wonderful! I had been missed, and had missed my two little darlings as well.
By the time I had unloaded a full day’s shopping from the car and attended to a few minor chores I was too tired to take Liquorice and Keaton for their walk. And, though the day was nearly over, it was still too hot here in Oz for strenuous exercise, so we went for a short stroll over to the front gate instead. Liquorice trotted off ahead of me while Keaton lagged behind. Usually it is Keaton that leads the way ensuring all is safe for us to follow and Liquorice then brings up the rear! Liquorice stopped and turned sideways, presumably wondering what had happened to us. Then Keaton charged from behind me at great speed and leapt over the top of an apparently surprised Liquorice clearing her effortlessly! Well almost. His front end gracefully cleared her easily enough, however his back legs caught Liquorice amidships! She went tumbling down, rolling completely over, while Keaton stumbled to his feet and was off quick smart! Liquorice stood up, smothered in the dry dead grass that had once been our lush green lawn and simply looked at me with a silly expression on her face. I had expected her to bark abuse at Keaton, questioning his athletic prowess, his intelligence and casting doubt upon his parentage, however Liquorice remained silent.
Now I am wondering if that “escapade” was not preplanned by them for my entertainment, only the final execution of their “performance” went embarrassingly wrong!

Liquorice – Next time I’ll hop over you, so look out!
Keaton – I thought my back half would follow.
