The main event for today was taking Miss Thriller up to the café at Sydney Uni Vet School’s local Camden campus for lunch, only it was about 2 o’clock when we arrived. Her Ladyship was decked out for Saint Patrick’s Day tomorrow with her green hat along with green tinsel adorning her neck – even her drool towels were green!
They must have put Thriller’s usual chicken and bacon on immediately we arrived as once we settled at out table, Thriller’s plate, with her name printed on it, appeared. Methinks the little Miss was most impressed with the service! And the grilled treats too of course! How would the kitchen have known of Thriller’s arrival? When Thriller was walking toward the door, Sarah, one of the waitresses, she yelled out in a voice to wake the dead, “OH MY GOD, IT’S THRILLER – AND LOOK AT HER!”
Manager Karon brought me a flat white without my needing to ask. I ordered a plain hamburger with bacon, extra BBQ sauce about the edges of the buns and no tomato, beetroot, lettuce or onion on it. Karon took the order but appeared somewhat perplexed, then I added, “And I’ll have my usual Swiss Grilled Chicken”, she then understood that the non-vegetarian burger was for Miss Thriller.
The venerable Miss had a lot of meet-and-greets and there were oodles of photos taken of the little love, all the attention Thriller thoroughly enjoyed. Mylene, from reception, was there also for a late lunch and came over giving Thriller a huge cuddle as the little Miss’s burger arrived. I explained that since Jenni (Thriller’s regular vet) was down at Camperdown campus today, Thriller could sneak in a hamburger. Happily, Mylene volunteered not to tell Miss Jenni.
Several students came over to pat and photograph the venerable Miss. Many asked why the green, or what was the occasion. Only a few already knew it was St Pat’s Day tomorrow. One Chinese student was very pleased when it was explained. She was seeing the professor supervising her research project this afternoon, and he is Irish, so she can wish him a Happy St Patrick’s Day and get on his good side! I suggested that she tell him to down an extra Guinness tomorrow, just for her! She said that she would. One student remembered Thriller from her Halloween clobber that she wore last year, and another asked if she was the Newfoundland in “all the photos over in the small animal clinic?” So, Thriller is becoming well-known in her own right. :-)))))))))
Thus, Thriller had a great time at Caffe 104 today.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from Thriller and her old dad!
